What's Your X-Factor?

By Arel

· Personal,Self-Improvement

Everyone has a unique X-factor that makes them stand out from everyone else. Never forget what it is.

Your X-factor is what’s special about you, hard for others to replicate, and helps you to build and grow relationships that not everyone else can obtain

You're a Good Person, Right?

Are you a good person? I'm sure you think you're a good person. You take care of your loved ones, you appreciate other people, and you've certainly been very charitable at times.

But should you get that dream job because just because you're a good person? No. You need your x-factor.

Why should this man/woman date you? Because you're a good person? No. You need your x-factor.

Maybe there's this business guru you look up to. Shouldn't they take you under their wing, all because you're a good person? No. You need your x-factor.

Being a "good person" don't cut it. Ponzi scheme mastermind Bernie Madoff was a "good person." In fact, he's apparently already is a good person, if this report is to be believed:

Find Your X-Factor, and Never Forget Who You Are

EVERYONE, including you, has an X-factor; you just need to figure out what yours is. If you’re struggling to discover yours, ask yourself two questions:

  1. What is unique about my personal story?
  2. What makes me relatable, or what do I have in common with other people?

Either way can work. You may have climbed Mount Everest (making you unique), or you might just be a regular guy or gal who figured something out (making you relatable).

If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you may recall how Tyrion recognizes his own disadvantages, but leans heavily into his own strengths. He has discovered his X-factor.

"My brother has his sword, and I have my mind." -Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion knows who he is, he knows his story, and he doesn't try to act like a macho hero like his brother or the Cleganes. Most importantly, he never forgets what he is; he never forgets his X-factor.

"Never forget what you are...wear it like armor, and it can't be used to hurt you." -Tyrion Lannister

My Own X-Factor:

My X-factor is that I grew up on welfare, in the projects of Brooklyn, New York, before I went to and graduated from college. That’s where I started...it was going to be the beginning of a hugely successful business career.

Easier said than done, right? My first few business ideas failed hard. You want to talk about success? Success to me then was being able to put food on my plate!

I thought people would support me just because I was an energetic, ambitious young man. I thought I was good for it, that I was good enough. As you know, only being a "good person" doesn't cut it.

But one day, I tapped into this X-factor of mine, this dark horse story. From there, it wasn't about what brought me down in the past. It became the story of a kid from the hood grew up into a man who built multiple six- and seven-figure speaking businesses.

It became the story of of a boy who knew what it meant to want and to lack, to "have to do without..." to the man whose mission is to give and provide the messages of likability and success in people everywhere from the up-and-coming students to established businessmen and women.

Whatever your X-factor is, focus on it all the time.  Never forget who you are!
