In this episode of the Art of Likability, we're going to talk about how relationships (not time!) can be the most important thing in the world. I will also issue you a challenge(!) to build new, amazing relationships from scratch.

Some say that time is the most important thing in the world. I actually think relationships are right up there with time, even more important!

Listen to anyone complaining about something and I bet it would be relationship related. Even when it comes to more technical issues like finance, there are relationships and obligations attached to one's ability to provide.

We're hardwired to be social beings, and Likability is the key to tapping into our social selves.

So it would make sense that we would want to have our relationships and Likability figured out. I'd be cool with that. But I've noticed people unwilling, or scared of starting up a new relationship.

If it's business, maybe one is intimidated by someone else more successful than he. If it's relationships, maybe he's afraid he will mess up, say the wrong thing, and look dumb.

So people end up taking no action at all and try to avoid the pain of looking dumb. They try to avoid looking vulnerable.

Vulnerability researcher Brené Brown had something cool to say about vulnerability and looking dumb in a recent TED Talk.

"So when we numb [vulnerability], we numb joy, we numb gratitude, we numb happiness."

Living a dull, numb life is not an option.

It's clear that in order to grow, you cannot numb yourself to pain. My challenge to you is this: Find an easy, low barrier way to start a relationship, then go do it!

This could be as simple as saying hello. This could be as simple as giving a compliment on someone's outfit. "That outfit would look great on a friend of mine and his birthday's coming up!" What do you know-a whole conversation comes out of the compliment.

The more shots you attempt, the more you put yourself in slightly uncomfortable situations, the more chances you will have at building new relationships, romantic, personal, or business related.

Here's another easy low barrier move you can make for building your relationships: Please include your email below so you can get heads-up, first look notice for our upcoming FREE, LIVE WEBINAR!
